Drying your washing outside on the line is a marvellous idea but unfortunately the reality of the great British weather often means we end up draping our damp laundry over radiators and indoor airers. Tumble dryers can be a godsend and a very worthy investment. The modern-day tumble dryer won’t shrink your clothes and is far more energy efficient than their predecessors, with many models having multiple programmes and large capacity drums to accommodate greater loads. A vented machine uses a hose to push the damp air through a window or wall vent. A condenser tumble dryer collects water in a reservoir (which you then empty), so you can place it anywhere in a well-ventilated room. And a heat pump tumble dryer reheats the air in the drum for gentle drying and energy efficiency, so it’s kind on the environment – and your bills.

FAQ QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS :-

Can a tumble dryer be integrated?

As virtually all integrated dryers are heat pump models, though, you can leave your wall alone. These models recirculate the warm air around the dryer and collect the moisture in a tank – this needs to be emptied at the end of each drying cycle.

What does integrated mean in a tumble dryer?

Integrated tumble dryers: These machines are designed to be installed within a kitchen unit and hidden behind a door matching your other cupboards. This type can be pricier and slightly smaller than freestanding machines, with the same height and width of freestanding ones but less depth, at 53cm.

Do integrated tumble dryers cause condensation?

Install the appliance in a room with enough space and good ventilation: If the tumble dryer is installed in a room which is too small, condensation may occur.

Can I use an integrated tumble dryer freestanding?

It is designed to be fitted into the Kitchen unit and not to be used freestanding.

What is the difference between integrated tumble dryer?

Space. A standard freestanding tumble dryer will measure around 85cm in height and 60cm in width. Integrated tumble dryers differ only slightly, standing between about 82cm and 85cm, but also having a 60cm width. The big size difference between freestanding and integrated tumble dryers is their depth.

Can a heat pump tumble dryer be integrated?

An integrated heat pump dryer doesn't use a special element to generate heat to dry items, like a condenser tumble dryer. Instead, you'll find the former uses the heat pump to generate warm air from the dryer. It then pushes this back into the drum to dry your laundry, which makes this a very eco-friendly option.

Do tumble dryers need ventilation?

Even if you go for a condenser dryer, where there is no need to vent to the outside, your tumble dryer still needs a ready supply of cool air that will allow it to breathe.

Where should you not put a tumble dryer?

So, you can place these tumble dryers anywhere in the home but avoid placing them in garages and outbuildings as they need to operate within a minimum ambient temperature range.
